East Africa Rice Programme Director, Rikolto

John Ereng is the Regional Director for the Sustainable Rice Programme in East Africa at Rikolto. With over two decades of experience in agribusiness and value chain development, he leads regional efforts to promote sustainable rice production across Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. His work focuses on integrating smallholder farmers into inclusive market systems, enhancing food security, and improving livelihoods through climate-resilient agricultural practices. John has played a pivotal role in shaping Rikolto’s rice strategy in East Africa, leveraging his expertise in programme coordination, soil science, and agricultural extension to drive systemic change in the region’s food systems.
